Neptune Compliance provides high quality water hygiene and water treatment control measures to keep you and others protected from dangerous microbes the most notable one being Legionella, which can be fatal. Being covered by us will ensure that you are compliant with HSG 274 and L8 rev 4.
Dangers of Legionella - Legionella is a waterborne pathogen that causes Legionnaires disease. When a host is infected the bacteria may be incubated for up to two weeks until the infected starts expressing symptoms.
Symptoms may range from the following;
- Fever
- Chills
- Dry Cough
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
The disease can then cause other conditions such as pneumonia. Most healthy people can combat the disease, but will still need medical treatment. Those at more of at risk are the elderly and those persons with weak immune systems.

How to combat Legionella - Thankfully Legionella can be controlled in multiple ways. One method is controlling the temperature of the water system to within the guidlines specified in HSG 274 Part 2. In addition to control measures in relation to water assets i.e showers , water tanks, hot water storage.
Chemical treatment via proportional dosing is also a viable route in controlling Legionella from water systems. Using specific biocides can offer effective control.

Monthly Compliance
Our monthly compliance services allow you to stay protected from dangers such as Legionella disease and also stay compliant under the HSAWA (Health and Safety Work Act) with specific water compliance guidance and legislation L8 Rev 4 & HSG 274.
We can further protect you against these potential dangers via water sampling/microbrial mapping, to test for the growth of Legionella and other waterborne bacteria in your system to then which we can then take relevant remedial actions through disinfections whether it be a chemical or thermal disinfections to regain control.
Remedial Actions
If our monthly compliance measures highlight a non conformance in your water system, we can then take the appropriate remedial actions to ensure this anomaly does not escalate to something potentially more serious.
Our engineers and plumbers come equipped with the knowledge and industry experience to action these non conformancies, whether it be a simple turn of dial on a thermostat to correct a faulty temperature or a disinfection either chemical or thermal actions will be taken to ensure your water systems are safe for the building users you.
Training
Training is also a service we offer to those of novice knowledge of water hygiene to educate you on multiple aspects of the topic such as the biology of Legionella Bacteria so you can further understand how to combat it, and also to impliment control measures you can take away to your site to reduce the risk of Legonella proliferation, among other threats.
We are happy to carry out the training in anyway the customer would like. If the customer would like a face to face meeting or a digital one through a webinar or any other means we are happy to and infact encourage this.

Air Hygiene
Neptune Compliance offer specialist air services to our customers focusing on cleanliness and reduction in fire risk via various cleaning methods of all aspects of ventiation and extraction duct work in accordance with TR 19 & HTM 03:01.
Sick building syndrome is associated with poorly maintained ventilation systems, the typical symptoms for employees and building users typically an office environment, resulting in high levels of sickness and reduced efficiency of employees due to lethargy due to the symptoms specified below.

A high percentage of fires in commercial kitchens originate in faulty extract ventilation systems due to build up of fat and grease. Grease build up also causes an environmental health hazard by providing a breeding ground for bacteria. You can reduce these risks by carrying out regular cleaning of your kitchen extraction and ventilation systems in accordance with TR 19.
FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE REQUIRED CLEANING REGIME/FREQUENCY COULD INVALID YOUR BUILDING INSURANCE.
Air Hygiene services we provide
Compliance
Much like our Water compliance regime our Air compliance regimes would be carried out in accordance with the latest UK guidance and legislation. We keep you compliant via frequent kitchen extract cleans and degreasing. We carry out full cleaning and degreasing of duct work in accordance TR 19 HTM 03:01. Other services we offer include:
- Supply and extract ventilation cleaning
- Indoor air quality monitoring
- LEV testing (Local exhaust ventilaion)
- Deposit thickness testing (DTT)
You being compliant in this area means that the risk of these systems being a fire hazard is minimized, along with these systems running more effiecntly and cleaner post clean offering a better working environment for all building users.
Remedials
We also carry out full remedials to these systems when needed such as installing new extract fans or access hatches to the systems to allow for easer access for inspection and planned cleaning works.
